A quite respectable lady went to a pharmacy, walked up to the pharmacist, looked him straight in the eyes and said, "I would like to buy some cyanide".. The pharmacist asked, "Why in the world do you need cyanide?" The lady replied, "I need it to poison my husband." The pharmacist responded with a gasp and exclaimed: "Lord, have mercy! I can't give you cyanide to poison your husband! That's against the law and they'll throw us both in jail! - Absolutely not, you CANNOT have any cyanide!" The lady then reached into her purse and pulled out a picture of her
husband together with the pharmacist's wife. |
The pharmacist looked at the picture and replied, "Well, now, that's different. You didn't tell me you had a prescription."
(Of course, I don’t mean try the above today).. I just wrote that to hopefully give you a bit of a chuckle and put you in the ‘right frame of mind’ for what I am about to tell you.. You know how some days, things happen that you don’t like, often caused by someone or something outside your control, or plans that just don’t work out - You know what I mean? Then you think to yourself “why is this happening to me?” Feelings of negativity and frustration often arise, leading to disappointment or even fear about a situation that you have little control over. It could be a money problem, career related or personal issue and you feel angry and frustrated when you can’t solve it.
I am sure that you have felt that way quite a few times, but what is the point of this article you may ask? Well let me explain by asking you to try a simple game... You will find it very revealing and interesting I am sure. From this moment, wherever you happen to be, do your best to APPRECIATE everything around you. It might be that the weather is nice (well maybe that’s not a very good choice!) or that the person at the checkout was really nice and friendly today? Appreciate those simple things. Perhaps you take someone for granted, for example your wife? You could immediately decide, here and now, that you are going to send her some flowers to show her how much you appreciate her! There are literally hundreds of things (or people) you could appreciate – no matter how small. On the other hand, you might be someone who appreciates nothing or very little! If you are like that, then do you think that you get what you want out of life? Are you really happy? Maybe not..
Whatever you do, try your best to see the best in everyone and everything around you at every moment. Look around your surroundings again and notice something else that pleases you. Make it your mission to keep doing this as you move through your day and you will soon realise that the more you appreciate something, the better it feels. The better it feels, the more you want to do it. The more you want to do it, the better it feels.. so it gets better and better. In other words, your good feelings are amplified and whether you realise it or not, you are creating a ‘flow of Energy’ that ripples outwards and starts attracting all good things into your life. Once you have this good feeling attitude, which will occur if you practice this ‘Appreciation Game’ on a daily basis, it is possible to move to a new level of consciousness that allows you to virtually create the life you want. It is only a matter of belief and shedding all your doubts, no matter what happens.
This means that you have to keep believing and focusing on what you want to happen at every moment, just as if you were directing a movie. If something doesn’t go your way, believe that there is a good reason for it, even though you might not realise it at the time. With some practice, you will learn to ignore every negative event and occurrence in your life and attract only positive occurrences towards you. If you continue this way of thinking and really believe that everything that happens does so for a reason, then strange coincidences will begin to manifest, out of the blue. For example, say that you are frustrated and unhappy in your job and want something better but you are afraid to leave unless you find an alternative, realising that in your career, jobs like this are hard to come by. By just appreciating everything and then visualising that new job, it will present itself to you.
The speed at which this happens depends upon your level of belief. If you are someone who finds this very hard to grasp, then it probably will never work for you. If you are someone who cannot help but worry and see this as nonsense, then as you harbour negative feelings, you will continue to attract unwanted occurrences in your life. So the worse it gets, the worse it gets. However, if you play the positive appreciation and visualisation games for as little as 30 minutes a day, without having to change your routine in any way, you will actually begin to feel really good. Try it and you’ll see that it works. It is now proven that feeling grateful and appreciative about life actually causes the brain to release chemicals, including “Endorphins” that give you a feeling of well-being, just like that feeling of exhilaration after exercise. You might start thinking about yourself and say: “I am so glad that I have good health” then you could think of your family or close friends who make you happy, picture them in your mind’s eye and really appreciate them.
If you choose to, you will find yourself beginning to change. The more you appreciate, the more you will attract good luck and happiness into your life. At this stage, you might be sceptical and think that none of this is relevant to your life. Wrong. It is relevant to everyone’s life because it is as real as it gets and it works. After just a few weeks, people will most certainly see a change in you. They will notice that you are calmer and don’t get angry or upset any more, because you will learn that there is no point in doing so. You will learn how to accept everything that happens and treat it as a challenge. Thousands of years ago, the Spiritual Vedic Masters who first practiced these Universal Laws, said that “the past is no more than the trail you leave behind you – so live in the present with positive belief, then you will manifest all your dreams” So try this today and see where it leads you...
